After his advanced level
education, Elisha Ongere enrolled privately in the art
examination in 1985 and passed. He soon started participating
in art exhibitions.
Elisha
Ongere's first exhibition in 1991 at the then Signature
Gallery, based at the former Trade Bank Centre was very
successful and attracted many art buyers and enthusiasts.
Ongere has since participated in a number of exhibitions
including the annual Kenya Art festival at the National
Museums of Kenya. His work graces the walls of galleries
in Japan and Germany.
Elisha Ongere is currently
an art teacher at Mumias Girls Secondary School.
