Hashim MRUTA Bushier (1942 - 1998) [view available works from this artist]

Hashim Mruta was a former policeman. He had retired from the force when Tingatinga started to paint at the Morogoro Stores. Since Tingatinga already had five students and refused to take any more, Mruta was only allowed to watch the others painting. He then ran home to practice what he had seen.

After Tingatinga's death, Hashim Mruta became one of the founding members of the Tingatinga partnership. He later was a member of the TACS where he stayed until is death in 1998.
